About
With their distinctive black, white, and grey colouring herons Often will be standing still along the edge of a river, ponds or lakes waiting for fish to swim buy which it preys upon. It also easts small mammals like vols as well as small birds such as ducklings. The grey Heron stands at around a meter tall with a wingspan that can stretch up to just under two meters.
Where to see them
At Saltram you will be able to see Herons anywhere that has water, especially near the saltmarsh and the estuary bank. Herons are quite shy birds, however, they won’t stick around if there is too much noise.
