Mini meadows in bloom around Keyham!

On Tuesday 1st of April, Green Communities collaborated with Pollenize, the Wolseley Trust and Ford Primary School, to plant several wildlife ‘mini meadows’ in the Wolseley Trust Business Park. As well as developing beautiful, colourful spaces for Keyham’s community to enjoy, our aim was to work together to create habitat/home for insects and pollinators which are vital for many animals’ survival.

Ford Primary School sowed wildflower seeds and painted pictures of their favourite pollinators in the Wolseley Trust Garden and they have watered the mini meadows weekly.

In July, Green Communities are taking students to Saltram to celebrate their wonderful contribution to Keyham’s ecosystem/biodiversity. We will be taking part in sweep netting, ecological monitoring and examining the similarities between the wildlife meadows in Saltram and our very own ‘mini meadows’ in Keyham.

Thanks to the Wolseley Trust and Pollenize for their support, and a HUGE thank you to Ford Primary school for their ongoing contribution to this project.
