Teaming up with the Horticultural Therapy Trust
We have been busy teaming up with the Horticultural Therapy Trust to discover the wonderful bugs and flowers which live in the HTT gardens...
Our rangers, Jess and Sophie, joined up with HTT in June to run some nature activities with the group.
With some bug hunting equipment, enthusiasm, and some knowledge to share, they helped to harvest garlic, and with planting out. After which, Jess and Sophie led the group on a wildflower and insect walk, identifying some of the life in the garden at HTT.
The group discovered that the HTT garden haven is certainly a wonderful space for biodiversity. Gently weaving large bug nets, through the long grass and wildflower areas, they found a woundwort shieldbug on the woundwort and a hairy sheildbug. They also found a mullein moth caterpillar and lots of varied flower beetles and some grass bugs including a three spined grass bug.
All in all, a really lovely day spent connecting with nature in their very own garden!
