We've restored an ancient stone wall in Central Park

Working in partnership with National Trust rangers, the Green Communities team have repaired a section of ancient stone wall in Central Park this autumn.

Our Green Communities National Trust rangers teamed with the Trust's rangers from Wembury to carry out repairs on an ancient stone wall in Central Park. Not only fixing the wall, but also sharing skills in stone wall restoration!

Devon's stone walls are famous for supporting and hosting hedges, a hugely valuable habitat (home) for a variety of wildlife. Devon boasts a vast number of ancient hedges, dating all the way back to Medieval times and sometimes even earlier. They are a real work of care and craft, and the heritage they represent deserves to be protected and restored, as well as the speicies they host.

We're thrilled with how the wall has turned out, and are happy that, as a parntership project, we've breathed life back into it, hopefully for hundreds of years to come...
