Are Our Hedgerows In Good Health?
Date: Wednesday, February 16, 2022
When: 7:00pm - 8:00pm
This presentation with Jess Smallcombe of Devon Biodiversity Records Centre(DBRC), will show us how to assess the condition of our hedgerows
Join this talk from Green Minds project partners, Devon Wildlife Trust, to learn what a healthy Devon hedge looks like, it’s benefits to wildlife and how we can help DBRC to assess the hedgerows across the region. We know Devon has the most hedges of anywhere in the world and we know that hedges are a vital resource for wildlife and carbon capture. But, are these hedges in the best possible condition? Help us record the state of our Devon hedges so that we can help protect them for the generations to come.
During this talk you’ll be shown how to carry out a simple survey, what to do with your findings and the art of identifying trees in winter.
This talk is being hosted by the Conservation Communities project which is working with residents to discover, record and protect wildlife across 11 Devon parishes between Great Torrington and Hatherleigh.
