Blossom together: meditative sketching in Central Park

Join us for a peaceful afternoon of meditative sketching surrounded by the beauty of Central Park in springtime. Whether you're looking to explore a new way of connecting with nature or try something new, everyone is welcome, no artistic experience needed!

This free workshop invites you to slow down, observe, and sketch the world around you, using the park’s blooming landscapes as inspiration. Through gentle guidance, we’ll explore mindful drawing techniques that encourage relaxation, artistic expression, and a deep connection to the environment.

This workshop is suitable for adults and children of all ages, although children must be accompanied with a responsible adult.

Who is this for?

This workshop is open to all and especially welcomes:
🌸 Anyone who wishes to unwind, sketch, and be part of a welcoming, diverse group

Thursday the 1st May, from 1pm-4pm at the Central Park Community Sports Hub. We’ll use our sketches from this to create a nature-inspired sculpture, bringing our artistic observations to life in a collaborative and hands-on way. The sculptures will then be displayed as part of a National Trust Blossoms exhibition, exhibited at Cotehele, Anthony and Saltram National Trust properties.

What to expect

A guided meditative sketching session in the heart of Central Park
All materials provided—just bring yourself!
Complimentary tea and biscuits
An inclusive and welcoming space where creativity and community come together
The chance to develop your sketches into a nature-inspired sculpture in the second session

Come join us, sketch in the fresh air, and let’s blossom together through art!

These workshops are kindly funded and supported by The National Trust and Green Communities and Plymouth City Council.

If you are able I would encourage attending by foot or by bike to help reduce the environmental impact of attending. I hope this also would offer a chance to see some of the scenes of Plymouth and some fresh air before the event begins. Central park is approximately a 30 minute walk from Plymouth train station, or a 15-20 minute bicycle ride. There are bike rack facilities next to the venue if needed. As a part of this project, if you wish to cycle to the workshop, you are able to claim a free Beryl bike ride to and from the workshop. Get in touch if you would like to claim this offer.

If travelling by bus, there are direct bus routes from Royal Parade to Central Park, using the number 61, 43, 16, 13 or 12 buses.

If you have any questions about getting to the venue please don't hesitate to ask. If transport costs are a barrier to attending, please get in touch and we can see what solutions are possible, we have a small budget to help with transport costs if in need.
