Our main objective is to create a fairer Plymouth where everyone does their bit. The PCC’s Environment Planning Service is the lead partner for Green Minds. The Service has responsibility for embedding high quality green and blue infrastructure within Plymouth’s growth strategy to maximise benefits for health and wellbeing, supporting community cohesion, increasing biodiversity, building the local economy and climate resilience.

The National Trust was founded on the simple and enduring idea that people need historic, beautiful and natural places. They offer us perspective, escape, relaxation and a sense of identity. The natural world also gives us fresh air, clean water and clear seas. Our Saltram estate is a natural playground for people and wildlife within Plymouth. The National Trust will be working with local partners to increase the diversity of nature and communities within this large, urban natural space.

DWT will bring its range of wildlife and engagement expertise to the project mainly through the Urban Ranger, who will be crucial in overseeing apprentices and project delivery across the sites. DWT will also be key to delivering a training programme for stakeholders around embedding nature into various sectors, nature’s recovery, reintroducing species, and getting multiple benefits from making space for nature.

The Data Place is a social enterprise made up of data scientists, designers, community builders and strategists helping people and places thrive. The Data Place will develop solid data infrastructure to underpin the use, protection, and management of green and blue spaces in Plymouth and beyond, ensuring the benefits are felt by all stakeholder groups for ongoing sustainability.
Real Ideas Organisation
Real Ideas Organisation
RIO are passionate about finding solutions to social problems, creating and supporting real and lasting change for individuals, communities and organisations. RIO are innovators, change makers and risk takers. As part of the Green minds movement Real Ideas are working with Plymouth communities and partners to generate socially enterprising and creative solutions to restore nature and benefit the people of Plymouth. RIO’s work will support start-up and early stage community and environmentally focused business, through a combined funding and business coaching package. In collaboration with local creatives, they will also produce an immersive nature film for Plymouth, to be shown at the landmark Market hall digital hub, once opened in 2021.
University of Plymouth
University of Plymouth
The marine team at the University of Plymouth will bring their expertise in natural capital and action research to co –design a toolkit to assess the city’s connection with green and blue spaces and evaluate how social values change over time.
The team from School of Art, Design and Architecture will develop and test creative digital technologies to reveal and value nature in the city. The project involves a digital placemaking approach to set up a living lab within the city’s greenspace to engage, test and evaluate the benefits of inclusive governance.

Established in 1856, Arts University Plymouth is an independent university-sector art school run by artists and designers for artists and designers and internationally regarded as an educational catalyst for creative learning and social justice. Arts University Plymouth's expert academics, industry-experienced technicians and creative students bring innovative thinking and making to the Green Minds project, whilst enhancing their own creative practice and learning experience, through real-life projects and case studies.
